Avowed is Coming to PS5: Release Date and New Features

Long associated with Xbox and PC platforms, Avowed has finally been officially announced for PlayStation 5 players as well. Developed by Obsidian Entertainment and one of the most anticipated RPG titles, Avowed aims to reach a new audience and offer significant content innovations with its PS5 release. The announced release date and updates clearly show that the game’s expansion is much more than just a platform extension.

According to the official announcement, Avowed will launch on February 17, 2025 for PlayStation 5. Previously released on Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms, the game will now be available to PS5 users as well. This means that the Pillars of Eternity universe region, Living Lands, will be introduced to PlayStation players for the first time.

This development not only highlights Avowed specifically but also demonstrates Microsoft's ongoing policy of bringing first-party titles to competing platforms. The PS5 version aims to offer the same experience both technically and content-wise as existing versions while also delivering new features to players.

Alongside the PS5 release, a special yearly update will be released across all platforms. According to information shared during the New Game+ Showcase event, this update aims to significantly enhance the game's replayability.

The core of the update is the New Game Plus mode, which allows players to restart their previously completed adventure from a different perspective. Equipment from previous playthroughs will be retained, but weapons will revert to their starting level. This requires players to rethink their character development and explore new strategies.

New Game Plus makes Avowed’s gameplay loop more flexible and personal. Players can test the consequences of their previous decisions and choices within a different setup. The necessity to redevelop weapons aims to maintain game balance while keeping the sense of progression alive.

Thanks to this mode, Avowed moves from being a one-time story experience towards a long-term RPG identity.

With the yearly update, Avowed’s character creation system is also expanded. New playable races, additional character presets, and more customization options are added. The development team notes that these contents were not included in the original launch due to time constraints, and now they wish to offer players a freer creative space.

This feature allows players to capture Avowed’s atmospheric world from any angle, observing their characters and environment in detailed visuals.
