CS2 Season 5 Begins: Cache Returns, Armory Updated

The excitement of the new season has started in Counter-Strike 2. With Season 5, important changes affecting the competitive side of the game have been made, along with new collections added to the Armory.
The most notable move of the new season is the return of Cache. The map, which players have missed for a long time, has been added back to the Active Duty map pool, while Overpass has been removed from the pool.

Cache Back in Action

Cache, well known to CS2 players, is now part of the Active Duty map pool. With this change, new strategies, different rotations, and plenty of nostalgia await players in Premier matches.
The return of Cache could especially change the balance on the competitive side. Teams' established game plans will be reshaped, and it's time for players to refresh their old knowledge.

Bomb Damage Completely Changed

One of the most important gameplay changes in Season 5 is the adjustment to bomb explosion damage. Now, when the C4 detonates, the damage spreads across the map like a shockwave.

This system does not allow the explosion effect to pass through walls and loses power at corners. So if you take the right position, your chances of surviving are more consciously better than before. Players can also see in advance how much the explosion will affect them thanks to the warning on their health bar.

In short, the moments of "did I escape, am I safe?" after the bomb detonation are now a bit more tactical.

New Collections Added to the Armory

The update also brought new additions to the Armory. Two new weapon collections called Arabesque and Spy Tech have been added.
In addition, two new sticker collections named Fruits & Vegetables and Auto Racing have also been added to the Armory. Many new options in different styles are now available for players wanting to refresh their inventory with the new season.

New Community Maps Added

There are also new additions on the community maps side of CS2. The maps Boulder, Fachwerk and Shelter are now playable in Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch modes.
Debris and El Dorado maps have been added to the Wingman mode. This provides players with new areas to try in both classic modes and the shorter, fast-paced Wingman matches.

Performance and Bug Fixes

The Season 5 update is not just about new content. Valve has made adjustments on some maps, fixed various bugs, and improved scoreboard performance.
This makes viewing statistics during matches smoother, and the overall game experience has been refined with small but noticeable touches.
CS2 Season 5 brings a fresh breath to the competitive side of the game with the return of Cache, the revamped bomb damage system, and new collections added to the Armory.
