Machine Games, known for its significant marks in the gaming world, may be preparing to return to the Wolfenstein universe. The Sweden-based studio, which last appeared to players with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, is rumored to be working on the third main game in the series. This new title is said to offer a multiplayer structure similar to Rainbow Six Siege, unlike the classic single-player Wolfenstein experience.

Windows Central and Kotaku, trusted gaming sources, have separately shared information indicating that although the project has not been officially announced, the development process has reached a certain stage. This signals an exciting period ahead for Wolfenstein fans.

 

Machine Games’ history with the Wolfenstein series is considered a significant part of the studio's identity. The team, having successfully redefined the modern Wolfenstein universe with The New Order and The New Colossus, released the latest series installment, Youngblood, in 2019. However, this title did not make as strong an impact as the previous games.

After several years, the studio’s renewed focus on the Wolfenstein franchise is seen as a logical step both commercially and creatively. Choosing a multiplayer-focused structure shows a desire to adapt the series to today’s competitive FPS market.
